Signing the cooperation agreement between UE-UD and GSO Vietnam

On the morning of July 13, 2017, University of Economics - University of Da Nang signed a cooperation agreement with the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. Represenatives attending the ceremony were Dr. Nguyen Bich Lam - Director General of the General Statistics Office; Mr. Pham Quang Vinh - Deputy General Director of GSO; Prof. Tran Van Nam - Director of Da Nang University; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Manh Toan - Rector of University of Economics; Assoc. Prof. Mr. Tran Dinh Khoi Nguyen - Vice Rector of Economics University, along with other directors; General Statistics Departments of provinces and cities under central authority; representatives of departments, faculties and centers of the University of Economics and news agencies.
With this agreement, the two parties will join hands in areas such as data sharing; implementation of statistical activities; collaborative consulting activities in different fields; cooperation in training, development and recruitment; activities of scientific research and technology transfer. It can be seen that statistics students will have more internship opportunities in the central statistical organisations, will participate in practical penetration through activities coordinated with GSO such as collecting statistical information , analysing forecasts and so on. so as to update knowledge and advanced technology through training programs, specialized training from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. The two parties will have specific coordination to foster, train and provide high quality human resources for the statistics sector in Vietnam, especially for the Central Region - Central Highlands. The two parties will also coordinate the exchange of socio-economic information and data for scientific research and consultancy at all levels in policy making.
The cooperative relationship between the University of Economics - University of Danang and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam has developed over the years with many concrete results. Most of staff working in The Central and Western Highlands Statistical Offices graduated from the University of Economics - University of Da Nang, specifically from the Statistics Faculty. Statistics sector in Vietnam is involved in the training of the University Statistics faculty by consulting and evaluating training programs; scientific topics related to statistics, participation in teaching statistical professions.... The lecturers of Statistics faculty of DUE participated in the activities of compiling the scientific as well as professional documents, statistic laws of Vietnam, recruitment of civil servants led by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. The faculty also co-organized the "National Conference on Applied Statistics and Informatics (NCASI)" 2016.
Dr. Nguyen Bich Lam, General Director of the General Statistics Office, said: "We appreciate the cooperation and contribution of the University of Economics - Da Nang University to the statistics industry over the past years. The close cooperation is very necessary and highly feasible for both parties to promote the development of statistics in Vietnam."

Prof. Nguyen Manh Toan said: "The development process of the University acknowledges a great contribution from many socio-economic associations and organizations, in which the role of statistics is extremely important in the training and use of human resources by the university. The cooperation agreement helps the training of the university in general and statistics faculty in particular, which will be more practical. At the same time, the sharing of statistical data resources from the Statistics Department will create more favorable conditions for the quantitative research carried out by the university and the university's socio-economic policy proposals for the central government."

The signing of cooperation between the University of Economics - University of Danang and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam will facilitate development in many aspects. However, the most immediate and long-term benefit is that the quality of training and employment opportunities for the students in the field of statistics will be improved.
