Conference Summary on Admissions, Training, Scientific Research, and International Cooperation for the 2023 - 2024 Academic Year

On the morning of October 30th, the University of Economics - UDN held the Conference on Admissions, Training, Scientific Research, and International Cooperation for the 2024 academic year. The conference aimed to summarize and evaluate the university’s key activities in the past academic year and to outline directions and tasks for the upcoming academic year, with the objective of enhancing training quality, promoting scientific research, and expanding international cooperation.

Attending the conference, representing the University of Danang, were Dr. Tran Dinh Khoi Quoc - Head of the Training and Quality Assurance Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Duc - Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation; Dr. Dinh Thi My Hanh - Head of the Department of Student Affairs. Representing the University of Economics - UDN were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy - Rector of the university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Chair of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Truong Ba Thanh - Former Vice President of the University of Danang and Former Rector of the University of Economics - UDN, along with the school's Board of Management, heads of faculties, departments, and centers.

At the conference, participants listened to a summary report on admissions and training for the 2023-2024 academic year, along with orientations for the 2024-2025 academic year. The report highlighted three main contents: Results of admissions and counseling for 2024, training outcomes for the 2023-2024 academic year, and directions for admissions and training for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Over the past year, the university has recorded a significant increase in the number of applications as well as the quality of incoming students. The admissions methods have become increasingly diverse and flexible, attracting many outstanding candidates from across the country. In 2024, the University of Economics - UDN successfully completed admissions with a high acceptance rate, ensuring consistent input quality.

Regarding training activities, the university continued to maintain and develop internationally accredited training programs. Thanks to continuous efforts in improving training programs and strengthening admissions work, the University of Economics - UDN has affirmed its position, while also creating a high-quality learning and research environment that meets the growing needs of society and the economy.

For admissions directions in the 2024-2025 academic year, the university will build an admissions plan in line with the 2018 General Education Program, determine enrollment targets in accordance with regulations, and inherit the advantages of current admissions methods and processes, maintaining fairness, transparency, and applying technology to maximize support for applicants.

Regarding training orientations for 2024-2025, the university will develop new fields and majors; enhance teaching quality with new forms of training: Fully English-taught programs, partial English instruction, career-oriented & international certification programs; develop Blended Learning; strengthen connections with businesses and international organizations, and actively innovate teaching methods and outcome-based evaluation.

Next, the conference reviewed reports on scientific research activities and international cooperation. Accordingly, in the 2023-2024 academic year, the University of Economics - UDN achieved significant progress in both breadth and depth in scientific and international cooperation activities. The continuous efforts of the DUE staff and lecturers in scientific and technological activities, as well as international cooperation, have gradually capitalized on achievements, further enhancing DUE's academic reputation. The number of international publications in WoS/Scopus reached 49 papers. Research projects at various levels: 27 projects. Reading group activities in 2023-2024: 108 reports (an increase from 99 reports in 2022-2023).

In addition to the aforementioned activities, in the 2023-2024 academic year, DUE organized international conferences, scientific seminars, and specialized report seminars in fields such as Economics, Finance, Banking, Tourism, and Accounting, attracting the interest of lecturers and students. These activities aim to share and update knowledge in economics, politics, and culture, promoting integration with advanced global science. Notable conferences include The 14th Annual Vietnam Economist Annual Meeting (VEAM 2023), the International Conference on Management and Business 2023 (COMB-2023), the International Conference on Climate Change (VSCT-2023), the International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICOAF-2023), the 2023 Economic - Social Forum (VSEP 2023), and the Student Forum in the Digital Economy, etc.

In the field of international cooperation, DUE achieved positive results, expanding joint training programs, and student exchanges, and signing partnerships with many prestigious international partners. Academic and cultural exchange activities provided opportunities for students and lecturers to interact and learn from top universities worldwide. A total of 12 MOUs and MOAs were signed with international partners; 10 partners accepted transfers and exchanges; 102 international regular students (101 from Laos, 1 from South Korea), and 4 short-term exchange students (3 from France, 1 from Taiwan).

With unwavering efforts in scientific research and international cooperation, the faculty and students of the University of Economics - UDN have achieved remarkable results. This not only elevates the university's scientific standing but also contributes to the development of the national academic community. Notable achievements include 7 lecturers receiving Certificates of Merit from the People's Committee of Da Nang City; 27 international publications recognized by the University of Danang's Science and Technology Development Fund in 2023; 3 Second Prizes, 1 Third Prize, and 1 Consolation Prize in the Ministry-level Student Research Competition; 1 First Prize & 1 Second Prize in the University of Danang-level Student Research Competition; 1 Third Prize and 1 Consolation Prize in the City-level Student Research Competition; 1 Third Prize in Eureka 2023; 1 Second Prize in the Econometrics Olympiad; 1 Best Paper Award at the SR-ICYREB 2023 Conference (Tourism Faculty) and 2 Third Prizes in the Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad 2023.
