Promising cooperation between DUE and City University of Seattle

In the morning of 7th March, distinguished guests from City University of Seattle – CityU, including Mr. Denny Dang – Senior Consultant, Mr. Hiep Quach – Member of the Administrative  Committee, National University (the  U.S.) visited the University of Economics, the University of Da Nang (DUE). The meeting was held with the presence of representatives from DUE, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh – Vice Rector of DUE; Dr. Dang Huu Man – Deputy Head of Department of Research and International Cooperation, and Dr. Doan Thi Lien Huong – Deputy Head of Academic Affairs Department.


In the beginning, representatives from CityU gave a general description of the university teaching and training systems. Located in Seattle (The U.S.), CityU is one of the largest non-governmental universities in North West of the U.S. They have both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including: Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, Science, and so on. CityU provides high quality education system and lifelong learning for all kinds of learners. At present, CityU has been cooperating with a great deal of educational institutes in the world under 2+2 program, and they long to open the opportunity at the University of Economics, the University of Da Nang.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh, from DUE, was greatly impressed with the scope and quality of teaching and training at CityU. She said that DUE would keep working with CityU to expand the cooperation regarding international networks. She believed that CityU would be highly appreciated by DUE students and lecturers due to its convenient location in Seattle. Besides, DUE has signed 14 contracts of “2+2 programs” with many partners  all over the world; hence, this would certainly support the similar process when they come to CityU. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh expressed her concerns about the international students’ policies regarding tuition fees, accommodation, and the similarity between the 2 university’ curriculum to establish appropriate programs.

 

Mr. Hiep Quach was very glad with the willingness in cooperating of DUE. Regarding mutual teaching and training program, he suggested two sides have further discussions in terms of training contents, then unify for an appropriate program. CityU offered 3 programs, including Bachelor of Science and Business Administration (BSBA) – Collective Finance, Bachelor of Science – Project Management (BSPM) – Collective Technology, Bachelor of Art of Management (BAM) – Collective Cyber Security. In addition, CityU would like to enhance the cooperation through exchange programs for lecturers and students for further mutual understanding of cultures, teaching experiences, scientific research work.

The two universities also discussed how to support students with their foreign languages when cooperating. CityU will try to help improve language proficiency among learners as much as possible and assure their ability of work in the U.S. after graduation. DUE invited CityU to participate and submit papers to the 2 big conferences held by DUE in 2018, which are International Conference of Accounting and Finance (ICOAF) and Marketing in integrative era (MICA).


The meeting happened with high spirits of cooperation. Representatives from the 2 universities put their faith upon the long-term relationship and higher development on many aspects. This expressed the agreement in teaching and training cooperation in the near future.
