DUE students in Ireland (part 2): First experiences

27/10/2017

Autumn in Ireland is gradually getting cold and it has been three weeks since two DUE students, Tran Thanh Toan and Nguyen Thuy Duong studied at the Cork Technology Institute in Ireland (CIT), with an interesting experience about the people and environment here. The first impression of a beautiful Ireland will hardly fade in the hearts of two young warriors. They can not wait to share their experience of the first trip to Ireland to everyone.

“ From the moment I arrived in Cork, the city welcomed me with cold weather and drizzling rain. My first impression of Cork was peace and ancient. This is the first time in my life to live and study away from home, so I had so many surprises. We had to practice a lot of things from time zone, climate, to the way of living of indigenous people. However, the strangeness lasted only a week until I received the help from Vietnamese brothers and sisters in the dormitory as well as the dedicated guidance of residents.”(Tran Thanh Toan, Class 41K15.2 - Faculty of Finance).

Besides being familiar with the environment, climate, time zones and living in Ireland, Toan also received enthusiastic help from teachers, friends and Vietnamese people. He shared that although it was two weeks late since the school day, the teachers of the Institute of Technology instructed me so intensively that I could quickly regain knowledge as well as integrated with my class. This school generally has some differences compared to the environment at the University of Economics, usually here it starts late late at 9 am and ends at 6 pm. International students here come from many different countries and cultures, so the fun activities in the school are quite diverse. CIT campus is very wide with green trees to create a sense of freshness and be close to nature.“Although it's only been a few weeks now, it's hard for me to get this experience through reading books or the internet. The warmth and kindness of the people, friends, teachers and the environment here is the driving force behind the journey to conquer knowledge at Cork Academy” Toan expressed.

For Nguyen Thuy Duong (Grade 40K01 - Faculty of Commerce) language barrier does not stop her from continuing her efforts. The first few days of studying at CIT, she encountered some difficulties in language as well as teaching methods. But luckily, she received a lot of attention from the teachers in the International office, the teachers of the Academy and especially the head of Marketing - Mr. Pio Fento. Mr. Fento encouraged her greatly as well as shared his valuable experience in studying and research here.

“The teachers not only care for our study, answer our questions but also give useful advice in life in Ireland. In addition, studying in Ireland has given us the opportunity to become acquainted with masters who are studying here with the Irish Aid scholarship. The warm welcome of everyone makes us feel very happy. In the third week of learning, we are increasingly catching up with our lives here and preparing for team projects with Irish friends. Our current mood is very confident and excited about upcoming projects at Cork Technology Institute. Studying in a safe, friendly and progressive country like Ireland is an opportunity for us to cultivate our knowledge and demonstrate the skills and talents of students from the University of Economics - University of Danang”.

The learning path of the two young students in the new land is still ahead, probably young people will need more time to explore and experience the interesting things in Ireland. Wishing them with luck and confidence while studying and living in the island of emerald - Ireland!
