Student affairs conference for the academic year 2022 - 2023: Promoting the role of learners in building a civilized and modern learning environment

On the afternoon of November 27, the University of Economics - University of Danang held a Student affairs conference for the academic year 2022 - 2023. The conference was honored to welcome delegates: Assoc. Duong Minh Quan – Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department - University of Danang; On the side of the University of Economics, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van Huy – Vice-Rector of the University, leaders of faculties, departments, and centers under the University, teachers and class reps, class secretary from class 45 to class 48 - representing 14,000 students of the University.

Opening speech at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy affirmed that the conference is a forum for students to exchange thoughts and aspirations in all fields such as learning, practice, organize life and social activities. A new feature in student affairs this year is that the University has organized a Faculty-level Student affairs Conference, thereby promoting the role of all levels in listening to thoughts and aspirations, answering questions, and acknowledging student contributions. In the spirit of democracy, the Faculty-level Student affairs Conference has contributed to building cohesion and connection between teachers and students, improving the quality of teaching and learning in the University. Through the Conference, the University proposed that all students together promote collective intelligence, and come up with new ideas and new solutions, thereby strengthening the role of learners in building a civilized and modern learning environment.

The conference listened to the report summarizing student affairs for the academic year 2021 - 2022 through video clips. Specifically, despite being significantly affected by natural disasters and epidemics in the past school year, the University has well-implemented teaching and learning work and support for students with difficult circumstances and be affected by natural disasters and epidemics. For students with difficult circumstances, and students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the University has spent nearly 20 billion VND in support, ensuring practicality and humanity. The school also responded well to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, deploying face-to-face teaching and learning combined with online in accordance with the epidemic situation, contributing to successfully completing the tasks of the 2021-2022 school year. The education of political thought, morality, and lifestyle for students is also interested by the University through many activities such as Citizenship Week; meetings and sharing with experts, scientists, and businesses; Humanitarian blood donation programs, Green School Project, Admission of new Party members, etc. Besides, the University also cooperated to organize many meaningful activities in career guidance such as Job Day 2022, Practical Program Potential trainees, etc. Sports, cultural and artistic activities were also organized regularly, contributing to improving the physical and mental life of learners, such as the 48K New Student Welcome Day, the First Prize of the whole team in the 12th Student Sports Festival in 2022 organized by the University of Danang, etc.

Promoting the achievements in the school year 2021 - 2022, teachers and students of the University of Economics strive to fulfill its tasks well in all aspects of work in the academic year 2022 - 2023: Ensuring political and ideological education for students; Stepping up the work of ensuring political security, social order, and safety; Organizing cultural and artistic activities, focusing on building a culture of healthy behavior, promoting positive values ​​of fine customs and traditions; Strengthening the management of out-of-school students to create conditions for students to actively participate in building a cultural life in the place of residence; Strengthening enrollment promotion under joint training projects with domestic and foreign schools; Implementing scientific research, start-up, and innovation activities; Promoting business cooperation, career counseling and job search support for students, etc.

In order to encourage the results that students have achieved in the past school year, at the Conference, the University also awarded certificates of merit to 18 students who are Class Officers having successfully completed their tasks for the academic year 2021-2022. At the same time, 17 students were rewarded for their active contributions to the school's activities in the 2021-2022 school year.

Continuing the conference was a session of presentation and explanation of students' ideas that took place in an open and democratic atmosphere. Some problems were raised by students such as: improving service for students; upgrading lecture halls, facilities, garages, dormitories, and equipment for learning; building software to post evidence of extracurricular activities for students; Inquiries about tuition fees, scholarships, conversion of master's courses in university training programs, building a suitable credit registration route to help students facilitate the registration process, exchange programs students among economic schools across the country, etc. In addition, many students have also "donated" for the University to improve the quality of training, foster more skills for students, update the library's curriculum, deploy the brand identity for students, promote club/team/group activities and participate in student union activities of the University of Danang as well as exchanges with universities in the Central - Central Highlands region.

The conference received many comments from students as well as answers and sharing from leaders of Departments, Faculties, and Centers.

All of the above issues were thoroughly answered by the Presidium and transferred to the leaders of the Department, Faculty, and Center for related questions. Through the student affairs conference, the link between the University and students will become closer and closer, towards the goal of building a learning and living environment with the best conditions for students. In the spirit of high consensus, the Student Affairs Conference for the academic year 2022-2023 ended successfully at 5:00 p.m. on the same day.
