The final round of Startup Runway 2021 - Start-up ideas are ready to come true

The final round of the Da Nang Startup Runway 2021 competition was officially held by the University of Economics, UD on the online platform on October 10, 2021, with the participation of the 5 best teams. : Team G-tok, Team Wref, Team Shirmpp, Team SpaceSneakers and Team iWork.

For the 5th time, Da Nang Startup Runway 2021 has attracted the participation of hundreds of young people who are passionate about startups from universities and colleges in Da Nang city. This year's contest with an attractive theme:  "Unicorn to be..."  gathered more than 50 ideas registered in the Kick-off round; After 3 rounds of intense competition, the Organizing Committee has selected the top 5 most talented teams to compete in the final round of Startup Runway 2021.

During nearly a year, the contest has constantly innovated and developed to affirm its position in the hearts of candidates in particular and those interested in economic start-ups in general.

The 5 best teams appeared and confidently introduced their projects to the judges and audience. The business projects in the final round mostly focused on digital technology applications in all aspects of life such as: TORO KIDs nanny application (G-tok group), Agricultural application (WREF group ), Platform for sharing and developing ideas on AI field Alilab (Space Sneakers group), Freelancer business connection platform (Iwork group); along with that is the breakthrough idea in the Bio-Pro product of the Shrimpp group. The teams participating in the final round were also trained and received many useful tips from Vietnam's leading startup experts, as well as advice and interaction from experienced lecturers of the University Economics - University of Danang. 

Creative ideas from five participating teams

The groups had 10 minutes to present a summary of the most unique points about their startup project in many aspects. After that, all teams had chances to answer to questions from the judges who are leading experts in the fields such as management, innovation, research, investment and technology. Not only that, judges are also experienced in previous startup competitions. Members of the Jury include Dr. Vu Thi Bich Hau - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City; Master Ana Le My Nga - Founder of Angel Investment Fund / Advisor Startup: Hermes Management; Master Nguyen Van Chuong- Vice Chairman of the Member Council of Danang Business Incubator (DNES); Associate Professor, Dr. Yen Tran- Associate Professor of Innovation, Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, UK;

The judges asked many tough questions for the teams

The judges constantly asked many challenging, stressful and difficult questions for the teams. Five teams competed with five personalities and colors, but they all proved their bravery and outstanding creativity. The teams confidently answered convincingly, the ideas showed the topicality and high commercial potentials.

After the fierce competition, this is the time for the contestants and their teams to shine with prizes:

First prize belonged to the WREF team with Agricultural Apps

The second prize belonged to Shrimpp team - the breakthrough idea in the group's Bio-Pro product

The third prize belonged to the idea of ​​a Freelancer business connection platform of the Iwork team

Consolation prize belonged to 2 teams: G-tok team with TORO KIDs Nanny App and Sharing Platform and Team Space Sneakers with the idea of ​​​​developing the field of AI Alilab.

The contest is organized by the University of Economics, UD in collaboration with Cork Academy (Ireland) within the framework of a project sponsored by the Irish Aid Foundation (Ireland). This is a startup playground to promote the spirit of creativity and ideas among young people who are still sitting in the lecture halls. The attraction of the contest has contributed to spreading the entrepreneurial spirit of students giving wings to the career aspirations of young people in the Central region.
