The University of Economics and businesses jointly builded and improved training programs towards high-quality human resources in the tourism sector

Promoting the cooperation of schools and businesses to build and improve the quality of training programs towards developing high-quality human resources in the tourism sector in general and hotels, in particular, is the goal of the Business seminar on the Hotel Management industry. The seminar was held on the morning of January 26 by the Faculty of Tourism - University of Economics - University of Da Nang.

Attending the seminar were representatives of leaders of resorts and large hotels located in ​​Da Nang city, representatives of state management agencies and professional organizations in the tourism field: Department of Tourism of Da Nang, Danang Tourism Association, Danang Hotel Association, Danang City Chamber Club. On the side of the University of Economics, there was the presence of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van Huy - Vice-Rector of the University, Ph.D. Vo Thi Quynh Nga - Head of Tourism Faculty and leaders of Departments, Faculties, Centers and Students of Tourism Faculty - University of Economics.

 Opening speech at the seminar, Assoc. Le Van Huy highly appreciated the cooperation of the Faculty of Tourism in particular and the University of Economics in general with the business community in the fields of human resource training, career guidance and scientific research. For many years, the specific training program of the Tourism industry - University of Economics has received great support from businesses, experts, human resource managers and recruiting, ensuring ensure that businesses participate in training 50% of the program volume. The leaders of the University of Economics expect that the business seminar on the Hotel Management industry would be a major development in the roadmap to improve the quality of training, supplementing the knowledge & skills of students in line with reality, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources of the tourism industry in Central Highlands and the country today.

 At the beginning of the program, the Faculty of Tourism presented the department's objectives for updating the training program, renewing the program framework to better match the needs of today's businesses; from then, faculty leaders also want to listen to comments from businesses about the details of training programs such as program objectives, output standards, content, modules. With the spirit of openness, the University and businesses exchanged, discussed and offered many solutions to standardize training programs in hotel management. Business leaders said that, in the trend of globalization and the 4.0 technology revolution, students need to cultivate more foreign languages, soft skills, especially skills in using technology. This is a decisive problem for students to conquer recruiters, find jobs that match their expertise and be ready for integration. Enterprise representatives are also ready to advise and give suggestions for the University to renovate the training program in accordance with the current tourism industry context.

 In the session about students' internship activities, business representatives also expected students to experience more practical work in the training program. Enterprises also commented on internship route, assessment methods and more effective management of internships of enterprises and schools. The two sides both agreed to create more conditions for the internship program to be more attached to reality as well as create more opportunities for students to get acquainted with the professional work, ready to enter the professional working environment immediately upon graduation.

 At the seminar, the University and representatives of businesses also achieved commitments to participate in teaching, extracurricular, career guidance, job provision, student event sponsorship, and practical environment for students in the future.

 Closing the seminar, the leaders of the Faculty of Tourism expressed their thanks to businesses and hoped to continue to enhance the cooperation with partners in the future. The business seminar in Hotel Administration is an open exchange forum between the University and businesses in cooperative training activities, and at the same time demonstrates the voice and importance of the business in the training activities of the university to meet the increasing requirements of current human resources.
