“Building a sustainable green community” project of economic students

With the response of thousands of students in Da Nang city, 18 days with 25 green activities per day is the result of the online contest: One green action every day. This is an online contest aimed at spreading the spirit of protecting the environment and encouraging a sustainable green lifestyle of the community with practical actions such as fasting, clearing email box, using Ecosia browser to search, planting trees, using a cloth mask, turning on the air conditioner under 24 degrees, picking up the trash, rejecting plastic products ... The meaning of the activity is not only limited to an online contest, but also a highlight of the project: Green University of Economics - Danang University: Green University DUE (GUD).

With the message "It's time to be greenly!!!", the GUD project aims to change the mindset and develop a sustainable green lifestyle among students, staff, and lecturers of the University of Economics - University Danang in particular and the community in general. Led and built by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Economics, over the past time, GUD has really improved the understanding of young people about the environment. 

Not only the contest "One green action every day", but the GUD project also joined hands step by step to realize the project's goals with encouraging results such as thousands of plastic waste products are minimized, tens of thousands of people approached the definition of "go green ", participated in the event "Youth actions for the blue ocean" organized and built by UNESCO and the world biosphere reserve in Cu Lao Cham (Hoi An) with a team of volunteers including nearly 100 members, the official Green University DUE fan page has nearly 2500 likes and followers after 3 months ...

 Sharing about the initial effects of the project, PhD. Nguyen Thanh Dat - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Economics said: “The initial step of the project received attention from both lecturers and students. Many positive results and figures have proven for our efforts in changing the perception of green lifestyles for young people in recent years. This also proves that young people are very concerned about environmental issues and sustainable development”.

Spreading the message of the green lifestyle to University of Economics students

In the first phase of the project (from October 2020 to May 2021), GUD will contribute to spreading a green lifestyle to all more than 15,000 students of the University and building a green university environment on the University campus, making the school a pioneer in the goal of green living and replicating the green school model at universities, colleges, intermediate, high schools, junior high schools and upper primary schools in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province, to build a green community and develop a sustainable green lifestyle. “The Project Management Board is very happy to receive the companionship and support of the School Board, the Youth Union as well as all staff, lecturers, and students of the University. This will be a great motivation for members to continue to develop the project and promote more practical actions. In the near future, Green University DUE promises to increase "coverage" in order to reach the community with a series of projects with high practical value, "said student Pham Bui Cam Tu - Faculty of Business Administration - One of the founders of the project eagerly shared.

After nearly 3 months of operation, the Green University DUE project will officially be launched to the student community of the University of Economics on the morning of January 24. We wish the project will continue to spread meaning to the community and implement the mission of developing a sustainable green lifestyle at the University of Economics as well as schools in the Central region.
