01/08/2022

One of many very topical topics, the research object is one of the key economic sectors of Da Nang, selected to report at SR-ICYREB 2022 is the Impact Assessment of Covid-19 on the commercial and service sectors in Da Nang (Investigate the impact of Covid-19 on commercial and service sectors in Danang).

The author group researched the topic "Assessing the impact of Covid-19 on the trade and service sectors in Da Nang". Thanh Hoang's photo.

The author group includes Tran Thi Huyen Trang, Le Thi Phuong Anh, Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung, Nguyen Tien Vuong (majoring in Investment Economics, Faculty of Economics, University of Economics - University of Da Nang, University of Economics). Economics – University of Danang).

“After many topics were brought up and discussed by the group, we realized that each idea (topic) has its own shortcomings. After that, the direct instructors suggested and analyzed for our group that the urgent problem at that time was the Covid-19 pandemic.

And once we chose the focus topic (impact of Covid-19), we aimed to cover all sectors of Da Nang's economy...

But when analyzing the data in depth and running the econometric model, the team encountered many difficulties with the data and the suitability of the model, many things had to go back to find a theoretical basis. The group was looking for a solution while also thinking that they would have to change the direction of the topic. It can be said that this is also a very difficult period for the group.

It is very valuable, when the teachers in the review board (at the Faculty-level research topic defense session) guided us to narrow the scope of research and choose only 2 areas of Trade - Services in Da Nang, See this as the main object.

Obviously, there is a reality that we ourselves have felt, which is that Da Nang - a tourist city, has suffered many serious consequences. In particular, trade and services are two areas very specifically related to tourism activities, which are greatly affected.

We decided to focus on research and accurately assess the impact of the pandemic. From there, make appropriate recommendations and policies for Da Nang city" - shared Tran Thi Huyen Trang and Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung.

Due to the change in research object, the team had to come up with new ideas and revise almost the entire implementation outline.

Another difficulty is that the research topic is quite new (the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the two fields of trade and services), the stage of finding theoretical basis from previous research articles, as well as Collecting information and processing data are no small obstacles. Another difficulty is having to invest carefully, converting from a scientific research report to a true scientific article to attend international conferences for scientific research students and universities of Economics and Business. Then, in the period of officially starting to implement the project (from the end of May 2022 to mid-June 2022), which also coincided with the final exam of the module, the whole group had to try their best, balancing equal time to both complete the article and ensure the results of the exam.

“Due to the complicated developments of Covid-19, the team was forced to work together on online platforms (from October 2021 to mid-February 2022). This also causes many difficulties in group work. In addition, in the early stages, we were not exposed to the "Scientific Research" module, so we had to put in a lot of effort. Another challenge, just one month before reporting the topic, group members were infected with Covid-19. The progress of completing the article became a huge burden" - Nguyen Tien Vuong shared more.

To compensate for many tough challenges, during the implementation process, the Group also encountered many advantages. Mr. Nguyen Danh Khoi and Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Yen (lecturer of Economics Department - University of Economics - University of Danang) are two great instructors.

During the research process, the two teachers, there were days when it was past working hours, or even rest time, but the whole group received answers to their questions. Some days there were very in-depth comments and suggestions, helping the whole group stay on track and complete their research work soon.

"The enthusiastic guidance of the teachers accompanied and encouraged the group, giving them more spirit and strength to overcome many difficulties" - the whole group shared.

According to Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh, another big advantage is that the whole group is in the same class. "We have been together for 3 years now, we study together, play together, do group exercises, and meet deadlines together. Of course, during the work process, there were times when the whole Group argued frankly, for the common goal of completing the article in the best way. The good thing is that each member respects the spirit of listening and absorbing outstanding and relevant opinions. So all issues were resolved unanimously and with very high consensus.

“In addition to having access to a lot of new knowledge, I feel really lucky to be with my friends, everyone always cheers, shares and most of all listens and respects each other's opinions. personally" - Phuong Anh said.

It is known that in order to have this day, confidently reporting the topic to the Review Council, "half of the working process, we were "together" through computer screens, meetings lasting for hours. lake". During the sprint period, when the deadline for submitting the paper was near, the group joked, "The group spent more time in the library and at school than at home."

To successfully carry out the research topic "Assessing the impact of Covid-19 on the trade and service sectors in Da Nang, the group applied analytical methods from the learned modules to research the topic." Specifically: the group has combined qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to help assess the impact of Covid-19 on the trade and service sector more objectively - analyzed by Phuong Dung.

"When I know how to successfully apply the knowledge I have learned into research, I have a deeper understanding and a firmer grasp of what I have learned" - Tien Vuong admitted.

As for Phuong Dung, participating in scientific research gives you the opportunity to access research methods. You have learned how to think and look at problems scientifically and objectively. Connecting with the content that teachers convey, you gain a lot of experience in shaping your thinking and way of working.

From the perspective of a scientific article, from the perspective of a student (third year), but the authors also boldly propose suggestions.

“With the group's analysis and evaluation, I hope that the research results will be the data foundation for the group's further research process or can support information, data, etc. for further research. save another.

On the other hand, based on the research results, the Da Nang city government can refer to and consider making decisions for future policies to restore the trade and service sector in particular and the entire economy. Da Nang in general, when "unsystematic incidents similar to Covid-19 occur" - Phuong Anh cited.

Meanwhile, according to Tien Vuong, the impact of Covid is negative in this field, but has positive implications in other fields. Based on the research results, the group proposed that the Da Nang city government not only focus on restoring industries negatively affected by COVID-19 to recover, but also pay attention to investing in industries with good resilience. , with little negative impact to sustainably develop the economy./.
